Mellow Ads is one of the top Bitcoin ad networks that I use to drive traffic to my iCoinPro landing pages. It is certainly one of the oldest and longest lasting Bitcoin ad networks around, and one of the most trusted.
It’s important to note that at the moment, Mellow Ads is best used for advertising products and services related to Bitcoin. Most of the approved publishers are faucet owners and Bitcoin bloggers.
Know your demographic
This may not be the best place right now for advertising a weight loss product or self-help program. However, this is slowly changing. Most of the people visiting the publishers on the Mellow Ads networks at the moment are those who are looking to make money from Bitcoin.
If you are offering Bitcoin mining contracts, free coins from faucet claims, new investment opportunities, or anything related to cryptocurrency…then you are in the right place!
What’s the cost?
Considering the accuracy of the ad placements, the competitive cost is one of the most attractive aspects of Mellow Ads.
Note: All transactions are in Bitcoin, but I have listed the US dollar equivilant (as of this writing) for an easier comparison.
Mellow Ads currently offers 3 diffirent campaign types: Daily run of the network, CPM, and CPC (my favorite). Geotargeting is available for CPM and CPC campaigns and either increases or lowers the base price depending upon which Tier you choose to target.
1. Daily network campaigns are based on your share of the daily network pool and your ads will be shown across the entire network. You choose how much you want to spend each day and for how many days. For example: if you contribe to 1% of the pool, then you will receive 1% of the display on the network.
Mellow Ads also provides daily estimates based on past results and updates the network stats in real time so you know what your may be getting before you press start.
Below photo shows a sample of a network ad spend of $15 per day for seven days. Approximately 5860 unique views with 265 unique clicks based on a network share of 0.1451 percent. This results in a CPC of about 5 cents. But keep in mind, this is worldwide traffic so the quality is not the highest. Great for getting traffic fast if you have the right offer.
2. CPM banners campaigns are available to run on the network or on a specific site of your choosing. Both options are available with Geotageting.
Below is an example of a CPM campaign set for 100,000 views at a cost of $30 geotargeted for the US market. There is also the option of choosing to display only your banners rather than text. (There are about a dozen sizes available to display. If you don’t have a banner for that size, then default text based on your ad description will be shown.) I always uncheck this.
3. As mentioned, the Mellow Ads CPC campaings are my favorite. Basically, you pay for guaranteed clicks to your website. Your ads will run for as long as it takes to receive the clicks. Choosing this option will take much longer for the campaign to complete.
Below is a sample of a CPC campaign with 100 clicks geotargeted for US visitors, with banners only. Approximate cost is $30. This is the type I use the most. It usually take about 2 weeks to complete, but you can run multiple campaigns at the same time.
Mellow Ads also offers pop-under advertising campaings. I do not use this type, so I encourage you to explore Mellow Ads for more details on their pop-unders.
So how are the results?
Mellow Ads has certainly matured over the years. From humble beginnings just a few years ago, the quality of their services has improved greatly.
I notice a very high level of accuracy when it comes to the Tier 1 geotargeting. My tracking shows an error rate between 2-4% (based on wrong country or phantom clicks) which I think is very good for this type of network. And, most importantly, I haven’t filtered any bots.
International traffic still has a higher error rate as expected, but far better than it was 2 years ago.
On the downside…the opt-in rate for even my highest performing landing pages is around 10-15%, which is much lower than the opt-in rate using Bing Ads. This is something very important to consider in your calculations before spending money on a campaign. The price is cheaper for a reason.
An added bonus
Although Mellow Ads does not offer an affiliate program based on sales, it does offer a free Bitcoin faucet which you can claim from every day. These small earning can be used toward a network campaign. And if you refer someone to Mellow Ads, you will get a bonus equal to 50% of their faucets claims.
It may take a couple of weeks to build up enough funds from the faucet to launch a small campaign, but hey…it’s free.
I encourage you to give Mellow Ads a try today. If you have a business related in anyway to Bitcoin, then I highly recommend taking a serious look at using Mellow Ads for your advertising campaigns.
