Can You Succeed Online Without Social Media?

This article is designed to raise an important question which many people seem to be asking again. I am no social media expert, so my thoughts on the matter should be taken with a grain of salt.

More than anything, I would like to hear your perspective on the matter. Please leave your comments below.

A personal opinion

As someone who takes their personal privacy very seriously, I have often avoided using social media platforms because of how easy it is to lose control over your information. After all, once it’s out there…it’s out there.

Platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have dealt with ongoing privacy and security concerns for a while now, including feed manipulation and user tracking. It usually comes down to this important principle: If you’re not paying for it, you are the product.

… And I would prefer to have control over how I market myself.

A webmaster’s dilemma

Not using social media, however, is a bit of a dilemma for a webmaster and online marketer. After all, social media has become an integral part of our lives and how modern business operates. Its influence is hard to escape.

So if you don’t use social media, how are you supposed to make those all important connections with like minded individuals? How are you supposed to promote your website to a worldwide audience? And how are you supposed to keep up with the latest business trends.

Where is your niche located?

Perhaps it would be wise then to look at an alternative that’s a little closer to the audience you’re trying to market to. At least, that what I did. If you are an affiliate marketer, go where the affiliates are. If you are a network marketer, go where the networkers are.

This is why I chose IBOToolbox. A social media platform dedicated to the independent business owner, complete with a set of marketing tools and a robust advertising platform for it’s members. To read more about IBOToolbox and how my first week went, please read this previous article.

There are other alternatives, such as the Warrior Forum and MLM Gateway. But my first choice is IBOToolbox, and also my favorite.

Maybe a better question would have been:

Can you succeed online without traditional social media?

As a privacy note: IBOToolbox gives you the option to completely delete your account information if needed. Just keep in mind that you will lose everything, and all your hard work will be lost. Proceed with caution.

I look forward to hearing your opinions. Feel free to send me a personal message.

Sincerely,
Michael
